The West Broadway Neighborhood Association, The Providence Black Repertory Company on the Young Fish School of World Drumming are throwing a neighborhood party in Dexter Park!  Youth from Providence Black Repertory Company will start off with a performance of drumming, poetry and dance.  Diana Young and R. A. Fish, follow, exploring a global rhythmic landscape.

Ikeme (E-kem) is a visual and performing artist, industrial designer, and teacher. In The Zanza Workshop young audiences will learn the history and culture of Africa through the context of various lamellophones. Come join us for a workshop which earned a mayoral award from the City of Baltimore.

Lydia Perez and her group "Yoruba 2" presents traditional music and dance from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean ".  PBRC youth will take this tradition to the everyday in a piece that explores the importance of rhythm in their lives.  Want to do something creative?  CityArts! will provide maskmaking workshops for youth and their families.

Chico Hamilton NEA Jazzmaster Workshop
@ The Providence Black Repertory Company

As a drummer Chico Hamilton has played with artists such as Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Lionel Hampton.  On Friday, July 21st at 12:30, Chico Hamilton will be holding a demonstration/ performance at The Providence Black Repertory Company for aspiring young musicians and their families to meet this American legend, before he takes the stage at Waterplace Park on Saturday, July 22.
