PROJECT LANGSTON
2004 SUMMER ACTOR TRAINING WORKSHOPS
AUGUST 12-14, 2004
Calling all actors, performers, and artist educators! You are invited
to join in an intensive 3-day workshop led by three national and internationally
recognized artist trainers and educators in theatre, dance, and movement.
This is an opportunity for you to hone your craft, and learn new creative
skills to use on stage, in rehearsal, or in the classroom. The workshops
are designed to incorporate the script from the Black Rep’s very
own homespun piece, “A Tribute to Langston Hughes,” which
was performed and presented at both the National Black Theatre Festival
and the New England Theatre Conference in 2003-04. You don’t have
to be an original cast member to participate in these workshops!
RESERVE YOUR PLACE TODAY! THERE ARE NO REGISTRATION FEES BUT YOU MUST
SIGN UP TO SECURE YOUR SPOT. REGISTER UNTIL AUGUST 6, 2004 BY DEVELOPMENT@BLACKREP.ORG,
(401) 351-0353 X 104, OR SIGN UP IN PERSON.

This workshop is designed for the actor. During the session Antonio
will expose the participants to a series of mime techniques, illusions,
metamorphosis, Delsartian body language work and improvisation. These
will be presented in order to make the actor feel more in touch with
his/her body. This connection with the body will increase the awareness
between body and mind/text and body to create a full and eloquent interpretation
of the role being played. The actors will also learn to trust their
